On Friday, April 1, 2011, the House is scheduled to debate and vote on the Appropriation Committee’s proposed state budget for 2012-13, officially the Committee Substitute to House Bill (CSHB) 1. We have prepared a short summary of the top five reasons to reject CSHB 1.
- The proposed budget is totally inadequate to protect Texans,
- the proposed budget damages our economy in the short term,
- the proposed budget damages our economy in the long term,
- Legislators shouldn’t approve the bottom line for public education without knowing how much each school district would get, and
- Texas has better options.
